Alvor

The village of Alvor itself and the neighbouring towns of Lagos and Silves are packed with historic remains within a 20km radius. A number of restaurants on the slopes of the Monchique mountain offer breathtaking views of the Algarve coast from their terraces. There is also a choice of golf courses for adults and mini golf courses, as well as theme parks for the little ones. The Bay of Alvor is a protected area for birds and can be explored using the "passadiços" (wooden walkways on stilts) that criss-cross it.
